Our curious cats are here to answer your questions
Madhu and Ellison met at Berkeley while pursuing their MBAs, where friendship, case studies, and late-night study sessions turned into a meaningful partnership. Over time, that turned into a dreamy life in San Francisco with plenty of bike rides, EV and vespa adventures, and a family of four (if you count their cats Maxi and Imli, which they absolutely do).
With Madhu from Bombay and Ellison from Maine, they come from opposite ends of the world, but somehow built a home that feels perfectly theirs. They can’t wait to celebrate that journey with all of you.
Built on a hilltop in Tijara, Alwar, the Fort Palace is best accessed by road, with Delhi being the closest travel hub and airport. We recommend flying to Delhi Airport, where shuttles organized by us will transport you to the venue (~2 hour drive). Our hospitality manager will be in touch with you closer to the wedding dates to coordinate transport arrangements.
Tourist visas are required for most international guests (including Americans). Once you RSVP, our wedding planners will provide instructions to purchase a visa.
We have arranged for your stay at Tijara. The check-in begins at noon on Friday, Nov 20 and the check-out is on Sunday, November 22. We request you to arrive at Tijara between 11 AM and 12 PM, so that you are ready for the festivities starting at 1 PM. Our hospitality team will get in touch with you in due time to collect relevant details for the check-in process.
November is generally one of the best months in terms of weather in India. You can expect temperatures between 20-25˚C (68-77˚ F) during the day time and cooler nights (temperatures could drop to 10˚C / 50˚F) in the region. It is less likely to be rainy, so no need for umbrellas. However, it will be prudent to carry sunscreen and sunglasses for the day time events.
There are four different events - each at a different time of the day, with a different setting. We recommend looking at the ‘dress code’ section of each event before selecting outfits. If you would like to experiment with Indian outfits / silhouettes, women could go for a Lehenga / Saree / Dupatta Suit and men could opt for Kurta / Sherwani / Bandhgala.
For your reference, here is a list of designers and brands we have compiled to support your Indian outfit online shopping if interested.
Despite Maxi and Imli’s excitement about their parents’ union, they will unfortunately have to miss. They will be live streaming the festivities from the comfort of their San Francisco couch but rest assured they will be included in the wedding themes and activities to remind us all of the space they hold in the bride and groom’s hearts.
Love the enthusiasm! If you would like to sing, perform a choreographed dance (as part of a larger group), share stories about us or lovingly / publicly embarrass us, let us know and we will fit it in the schedule!
Planning to stay a bit longer to explore the country is a great idea - India is huge, and there are many things one could possibly do – ranging from culture to history to food to nature. Please see here for some ideas.
Please feel free to reach out to either one of us for any other questions – or for a quicker and likely more efficient response, reach out to our wedding planners from Happytrio - Abhishek Jha at +91 75084 50610.
